  • Squids - 6 nos
  • Potatoes(peeled, cooked and mashed) - 2 nos
  • Onion(finely chopped) - 1 no
  • Lemon zest - 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • garlic(minced) - 2 cloves
  • Coriander leaves(finely chopped) - 2 springs
  • Coconut oil(As reqd) -
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt(As reqd) -
For the coating:
  • Coconut(grated) - 2 tbsp
  • All purpose flour(Maida) - 1/2 cup
  • Gram flour - 1/2 cup
  • Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder(A pinch) -
  • Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  • Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt(As reqd) -

Instructions
  1. For preparing stuffed crispy squid, clean the squid and keep the tentacles. Wash the squid and the tentacles. Finely chop the tentacles only.
  2. In a bowl mix in the mashed potatoes, chopped tentacles, cumin powder, salt, lemon zest, pepper powder, onion, coriander leaves and garlic.
  3. Stuff the squids body with the above mixture.
  4. Steam the stuffed squids in an idly vessel till it cooks and keep it aside to cool.
  5. In another bowl mix maida, gram flour, chilly powder, grated coconut, turmeric powder, baking powder, lemon juice and salt with required water to make a thick batter. Keep it aside
  6. Heat coconut oil in a deep frying pan.
  7. Dip each steamed squid into the batter and deep fry it till the covering becomes crispy.
  8. Stuffed crispy squid is ready. Serve hot as a starter.
