  1. For preparing tamarind / puli thogyal – brahmin special, roast urad dal and red chillies for few minutes in coconut oil.
  2. Add grated coconut and tamarind to the roasted item and grind the mixture by sprinkling water in such a way that the mixture is in semisolid state.
  3. Add salt and asafoetida. Tamarind / puli thogyal – brahmin special, is ready. This is used as a side dish while molaguttal kootan is prepared.
