  • Ladies finger(cut into 1 inch long pieces, Vendakka) – 10nos
  • Grated Coconut 1/2cup
  • Shallots(Cheriyulli) – 10nos
  • Coriander seeds(or powder) – 2tbsp
  • Red chilly(or powder) – 3or
  • Fenugreek seeds(Vendhayam/Uluva) – 1/4tsp
  • Tamarind(A small lemon size ball soaked in 1 cup water, Puli) –

  1. For preparing Vendakka Puli (Palakkadan Style), first saute coriander and red chilly in 1 tbsp oil.
  2. Add fenugreek and saute till it turns golden brown.
  3. Grind this with coconut and shallots.
  4. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan.
  5. Saute ladies finger.
  6. Add tamarind juice and salt.
  7. Once it cooks, add the ground masala and boil.
  8. Garnish with spluttered mustard, finely chopped shallots, red chilly and curry leaves.
  9. :- Vendakka puli tastes better the next day.
