Chakka Upperi

Ingredients
  

  • 15 nos Pachha chakka chula : 10 Raw jackfruit flesh
  • Salt : to taste
  • Turmeric powder : ½ tsp (only if required)
  • Green chilli powder : 1 tsp
  • Chopped onion : ½ cup
  • Coconut / refined oil : as reqd

Instructions
 

  • Remove the chakka chula (raw jackfruit flesh) from the chakka ( jackfruit), clean and cut into small pieces as shown in below.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and put the chopped onion along with turmeric powder into the oil and stir it for 4 - 5 minutes.
  • When the colour of onion turns into golden, add some salt and chilli powder and stir it well.
  • Add the chakka chula pieces into the mix and stir it well.
  • Enter Step
  • If required add about ¼ cup of water in this mix.
  • Cover the mix and allow to cook it in steam for about 10 -15 minutes (or till it gets cooked well).
  • Chakka Upperi is ready and it can be served as side dish for poori / chappathi or can be served with tea / coffee / butter milk etc.
