Clean, wash and chop the Champakkas and keep it aside. Also peel and clean shallots and chop them well. Keep it separately.
Heat oil in a frying pan and burst mustard seeds in this hot oil. Then add garlic, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves, shallots and coconut also. Stir it well.
When color of this mix turns into golden brown, add red chilli powder turmeric powder, chopped Champakka and required quantity of salt. Stir the mix well. Then add 2 – 3 tsp tamarind water and stir it for another 2 -3 minutes. Then put off the stove and allow mix to cool for some time.
Grind the mix properly (without adding water) and change it into a serving bowl. Chambakka (Rose Apple Fruit) Chammanthi is ready. Serve Chambakka Chammanthi with idli, dosa, rice etc.
