Dal Spinach / Paruppu Keerai

This recipe can be prepared with any type of keerai or greens.

Ingredients
  

  • Thoor dal 1 cup
  • spinach 1 cup
  • Small onion 1 cup
  • Tomato 1 no.
  • Red chilli 2 no.
  • Green chilli 2 no.
  • Garlic 4 no.
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Gingerly oil 1 tsp
  • Oil 3 tsp
  • Mustard 1 tsp
  • Cumin seed 1 tsp
  • Broken black gram 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves 1 bunch

Instructions
 

  • chop the onion, tomato, red chilli and green chilli
  • clean the spinach and wash it
  • boil the thoor dal by adding turmeric powder, salt, garlic, gingerly oil
  • once thoor dal get 3/4 th boiled add spinach and allow to boil for 15 mins until the thoor dal get boiled
  • in a pan heat the oil and temper the mustard, broken bangal gram, cumin seed.w
  • add also temper the curry leaves, red chilli and green chilli and asafoetida
  • add onion and saute it until it get brown
  • add tomato and fry for 5 min
  • now required salt and mix well and allow to fry for 10 mins
  • then put the onion masala into the dal spinach and mix well and allow to boil for 5 mins
  • now take the dal spinach smash it as displayed
  • now paruppu keerai / dal spinach is ready to serve. serve with rice
