Kaara Adai

A tasty and spicy Adai - Tamil nadu breakfast

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Raw rice
  • 1 cup Parboiled rice
  • 1/2 cup Black gram Uzhunnuparippu
  • 1 cup Bengal gram Kadalaparippu
  • 2 pinches Asafoetida Kaaya podi
  • 2 nos Onion
  • 10 nos Red chillies
  • Ginger A small piece
  • 8 nos Garlic pods
  • Curry leaves As reqd
  • Coriander leaves As reqd
  • Salt As reqd
  • Oil As reqd

Instructions
 

  • Wash and soak both the rice and dhals separately in water for atleast 3 hrs.
  • Grind red chillies, ginger, garlic, asafoetida, onion and rice first. Then add dhals in that and grind well.
  • Add reqd salt, chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves and stir well.
  • Make it into a thick batter.
  • Keep it for atleast one hour to prepare Adai.
  • For making Adai:- 1)Heat dosa tava and spread oil on it.
  • Pour a big spoonful of batter over it and make it a round shape.
  • Pour oil on its edges.
  • When one side gets cooked and turns brown, turn on the other side and cook well.
  • Kaara Adai is ready.
  • :- We can also grind one onion with rice and chop other onion and add to the adai batter.
