Kachil Kanji | Purple Yam Kanji

Kachil Kanji, or Purple Yam Kanji, is a traditional Kerala dish celebrated for its simplicity and health benefits.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cup Kachil Cut into cubes
  • 1 Cup Grated coconut
  • 2 Pinch Salt
  • Water as reqd

Instructions
 

  • Take the yam and remove the skin.
  • Cut into medium sized cubes. Wash thoroughly 4-5 times.
  • Take a pressure cooker and add yam, salt and water as reqd (approx. 4-5 cups of water). Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
  • When the pressure releases, open the pressure cooker.
  • Add grated coconut.
  • Smash it with a spatula. Adjust the consistency by adding hot water.
  • Serve.
