Misal Pav

Misal Pav is one of the traditional Maharashtrian dish and also a popular Mumbai Street Food. It is made with white peas and served as a evening snack in Maharashtra with pav bun.

Ingredients
  

  • cups Kabuli chana White kadala
  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 no Onion
  • 1 no Tomato
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp Garam masala powder
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida
  • 2 tsp Tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp Lime juice
  • 2 tsp Coriander and cumin seeds powder
  • 100 gm Groundnuts
  • 100 gm Sev
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • Soak the kabuli chana for 6 hours. Boil and grind half of the chana and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  • Add chopped onion and saute till it turns golden in colour.
  • Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
  • Add chopped tomato and saute.
  • Pour some water. Cover and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add garam masala and asafoetida. Stir well.
  • Add half grinded kabuli chana. Mix well.
  • Add the cooked kabuli chana, lime juice and coriander leaves. Mix well for a few seconds.
  • :- A little gravy is necessary.
  • Transfer the contents to a serving tray.
  • Spread chopped onion over the curry. Add chivda [mixture], coriander leaves and fried groundnuts.
