Ingredients
  

  • 1 no Papaya medium
  • 1/4 of Coconut
  • 4 nos Green chillies
  • 4 nos Garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Salt As reqd
  • Curry leaves Few
  • 2 tbsp Plain rice
  • 2 nos Dry red chillies Kollamulaku

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Kappalanga(Papaya) Thoran, first remove the outer skin and the seeds inside the papaya.
  • Clean it well and finely chop it.
  • :- You can also grate it.
  • Pound grated coconut, green chillies, turmeric powder, cumin seeds and garlic in a mixer bowl.
  • Mix the above with the finely chopped papaya and salt.
  • Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies, rice and curry leaves.
  • Add the papaya-coconut mixture and mix well.
  • Cover and cook in a low flame.
  • Stir occasionally.
  • After 2 to 3 minutes, remove the lid and stir well.
  • Continue to cook, till Kaplanga Thoran is done.
  • Kaplanga Thoran, a nutritious side dish is ready.
