Step 1

Wash and cook rice by adding 2 1/2 cups of water.

Step 2

When the rice gets cooked well, add crushed jaggery and keep it in a low flame till the jaggery melts completely.

Step 3

Add grated coconut along with cardamom powder.

Step 4

Slit the rasakadali bananas vertically and cut it into small pieces and mix it well with the payasam.

Step 5

When all the ingredients get mixed and cooked well and the payasam reaches a semi thick consistency, remove it from fire.

Step 6

Heat ghee in a pan and fry cashew nuts and raisins and sprinkle it along with the ghee over the payasam and mix well.

Step 7

:- This payasam is very tasty if it is served hot or served after keeping it in the fridge for sometime.


Jaggery should be diluted with water and filtered before adding to rice. Otherwise stones or dusts will be present.
