  • For preparing Capsicum Dry Fry, first wash the capsicums. Remove the cap from the top of the capsicum and takeout all the seeds. Cut the capsicum into medium pieces.
  • Chop the onion finely.
  • Put a kadai on the stove. Add 5-6 tbsp of refined oil. When the oil is mildly hot, add the mustard seeds. After it splutters, add the cumin seeds.
  • Now add the ginger garlic paste to it. When you get the aroma,add the chopped onion.
  • When the onion becomes translucent, add the capsicum. Cook the capsicum in a low flame. Do not add water, not even sprinkle water.
  • When the capsicum changes colour, check if it is half cooked.
  • Now add the turmeric powder, chilly powder and coriander powder and mix well. Add salt as per your taste.
  • Keep stirring the capsicum mixture till it is fully cooked. Add another 1 tbsp oil if required. Now add the cumin powder and mix well. Remember to cook in a low flame so that capsicum does not get burnt.
  • When the capsicum is fully cooked, add the besan flour or rice flour. Mix it well with the cooked capsicum and cook for a minute. Remove from fire.
  • This is an excellent side dish with sambhar rice, Rasam rice, curd rice and also chappathi.
