Step 1

Wash the capsicums. Remove the cap from the top of the capsicum and takeout all the seeds. Cut the capsicum into medium pieces.

Step 2

Chop the onion finely.

Step 3

Put a kadai on the stove. Add 5-6 tbsp of refined oil. When the oil is mildly hot, add the mustard seeds. After it splutters, add the cumin seeds.

Step 4

Now add the ginger garlic paste to it. When you get the aroma,add the chopped onion.

Step 5

When the onion becomes translucent,add the capsicum.Cook the capsicum in a low flame.Do not add water,not even sprinkle water.

Step 6

when the capsicum changes colour,check if it is half cooked.

Step 7

Now add the turmeric powder,chilly powder and coriander powder and mix well.Add salt as per your taste.

Step 8

Keep stirring the capsicum mixture till it is fully cooked.Add another 1 tbs oil if required.Now add the cumin powder and mix well.Remember to cook in a low flame so that capsicum does not get burnt.

Step 9

When the capsicum is fully cooked ,add the besan flour or rice flour.Mix it well with the cooked capsicum and cook for a minute.Remove from fire.

Step 10

This is an excellent side dish with sambhar rice,Rasam rice,curd rice and also chappathi.
