Dates Cake | No Oven Cake – A Healthy, Moist & Timeless Dessert

Dates Cake is a classic dessert loved for its natural sweetness, rich texture and comforting aroma. When made as a No Oven Cake, it becomes even more appealing—simple, accessible and perfect for home bakers who don’t own an oven. This traditional-style cake is popular across Indian homes, especially for evening tea, celebrations and festive occasions. With dates as the star ingredient, the cake delivers flavour, softness and nutrition in every bite.

Why This Is a Favourite No Oven Dessert

What makes the dish special is its deep caramel-like taste that comes naturally from dates, without relying heavily on refined sugar. The cake is moist, dense yet soft, and improves in flavour as it rests. Its no-bake convenience makes it ideal for beginners, busy households and anyone looking for a reliable dessert without complicated equipment.

Health Appeal & Ingredient Value

Dates are naturally rich in fibre, iron and antioxidants, making this cake a smarter indulgence compared to regular desserts. Many people prefer the cake because it feels wholesome while still satisfying sweet cravings. The absence of oven baking also helps retain moisture, giving the cake its signature melt-in-the-mouth texture that appeals to all age groups.

Serving & Occasions

Dates Cake pairs beautifully with tea or coffee and works well as a snack, dessert or festive treat. Its long shelf life and stable texture make it suitable for gifting and family gatherings. Whether served plain or lightly dressed, this cake always feels homely and comforting.

Ingredients

  • 200 g Dates
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 3/4 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Maida
  • 1 Tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Baking soda
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • 6-8 Tbsp Sugar
  • 3 Nos. Cloves
  • 2 Nos. Eggs
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla essence
  • 1/2 Cup Sunflower oil
  • 1/4 Cup Almonds crushed

Instructions

  • Take a thick bottomed pan and add 1/2 cup sugar+3 tbsp water. Let the sugar dissolve in this water.
  • Stir occasionally and let the sugar caramelize, colour turning to golden brown. Then add 3/4 cup water and bring it to boil.
  • Now add crushed dates and cook for 5 minutes in medium flame. Turn off the flame and keep it aside for cooling down.
  • Preheat a large pot or old pressure cooker for 5 minutes on medium flame. Place a ring stand in the center of the cooker for separation. Meanwhile powder the remaining sugar by adding clove.
  • Take a mixie jar, blend eggs and powdered sugar for 30 seconds. Then pour oil and blend for 5 seconds.
  • Pour the egg mix into the caramel date mix. Combine it well with a spoon.
  • Add the flour mix little by little and mix by combining using the cut and fold method.
  • Add some crushed almond nuts and mix well.
  • Transfer the batter to the greased cake tin. Pat the tray twice to remove the air incorporated into the batter. Top with more almonds to make it more attractive. Now slowly place the cake tin in the preheated cooker and close the lid. Heat for 30 minutes in medium flame and 20-25 minutes in low flame.
  • Check if cake is baked with a cake tester or a toothpick. If toothpick comes out clean that indicates the cake is baked properly. Remove and cool completely. Finally, serve the dates cake and store in an airtight container.
