Ottada with Banana Leaves is a traditional Kerala sweet/snack which is made with rice flour and coconut-sugar filling steamed in banana leaf. It is a very healthy and tasty dish which can be had as an evening snack. It is a traditional kerala evening snack; having traditional authentic aroma and taste. It is one of the most famous desserts in Kerala and can be found in several areas of Tamil Nadu as well. It is an easy dish that can be prepared in a jiffy. Ottada can be made using wheat and rice flour and the fillings can vary. Ottada with Banana Leaves makes for one of the healthiest delicacies out there since it is steamed and not fried in oil or ghee like most desserts are. It is so soft, fluffy and taste spectacular. The smell and flavour of the banana leaf in which the ada is wrapped only adds to the taste of the steamed dessert. Banana leaves, bay leaves, turmeric leaves etc.are used for making Ada.   • Add salt and coconut oil to the rice flour and make it into a dough by adding enough water.
  • Spread the dough on the vazhayila pieces.
  • Mix together the grated coconut and sugar well.
  • Put this mixutre inside the adas and fold the vazhayilas.
  • Cook both the sides of the ada on a dosa tawa.
