Malabar Squid Curry or Nadan Koonthal curry are one of my family favourite curry dish,we cooked it in traditional style. This is special seafood. uncooked squid contains around 198 milligrams of cholesterol and 13.2 grams of protein along with 0.3 grams of total saturated fat. It also contains healthy fats: 0.09 grams of monounsaturated fat, and 0.4 grams of polyunsaturated fat. Many people take omega-3 supplements or turn to eating more foods with omega-3 fatty acids — such as salmon — because of the cardiovascular benefits, which include their ability to raise HDL levels. In recent years, calamari oil has gained a lot of positive media attention for its omega-3 fatty acids .Squid mostly available in seashore side. Not in all around place. But in kerala is very popular and available . The result is tender squid in a rich gravy, it’s perfect for Rice, chappathi and Kappa.

Then it is seasoned with mustard, shallots. It is the Koottaan that renders the Rice a taste and smell.
Usually i make chicken majboos, so this time it was prawns as main ingredient. Unakka Manthal is a delicious, crispy fish fry famous all over Kerala. Fish is an excellent source of protein and this toothsome fry is made with the delectable flatfish, sole, known as manthal in Malayalam. The flaky texture and delicate flavor of sole is perked up with a spicy, zingy rub and then pan-fried with a liberal seasoning of black pepper and with the flavor of grinded shallots. This can be served as a side dish or as a appetizer too.
Today I’m sharing the recipe of Nadan Karimeen Fry. This is my all time favourite fish dish. This recipe is an exotic dish of karimeen fry cooked in traditional Nadan style. Spicy and flavorful Karimeen fry is tempting and irresistible and you will never say enough. The fried dish goes perfect with a bowl of white steamed rice. Pearl Spot also known as Karimeen is widely available in Kerala backwaters and this is a popular dish. Since this is an exotic dish, Pearl Spot fishes are very costly nowadays so the general lot cannot afford to buy the fish. Karimeen is rich in protein and omega 3 fatty acids. Karimeen fishes are coated in the spicy aromatic masala before deep frying. Marinate well before deep frying so that the masalas penetrate well into the fish pieces. You can explore a well detailed and step wise illustrated recipe here that can be easily prepared at home.
