For Grinding: Preparation Of Garam Masala

  • For preparing Nadan Beef Fry, first take all the required ingredients. Remember to slice beef into very small pieces. Wash well and drain.

  • Heat required oil in a non stick pan. Later, for cooking beef we will be using a pressure cooker.

  • When oil is hot, first splutter mustard seeds. Then add the coconut slices and fry to a golden brown color.
  • When the coconut slices are golden in color, add some fresh curry leaves and stir.

  • Next, add the sliced shallots, crushed ginger-garlic and stir.

  • Now add all the powder ingredients one by one: chilly powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and pepper powder. Stir in low flame until the raw smell leaves. Add little more coconut oil while sauteing. (Note: You can add few pepper corns and little salt to coconut oil for preservation).
  • Now, add the drained beef.

  • Mix well and add two slit green chillies. Transfer the contents to a pressure cooker and cook beef until done.

For Garnishing:

  • Heat oil in an iron kadai or non stick pan. Add few curry leaves and sliced onion. Saute well.

  • No need for the onion to brown. Add the cooked beef.

  • Stir well until it is completely sauteed and beef pieces are browned. Kerala Beef Fry is ready.
