  • For preparing Ulli Vada In Thrissur Style, first add 1/4 tsp of yeast in quarter glass of luke warm water and mix well. Keep this aside for about 10 mins.
  • After 10 mins, add together all purpose flour, chopped green chillies, ginger, curry leaves, 1/2 tsp of oil, onion, salt and yeast and mix it well in a bowl.
  • Add enough water to make a dough.
  • :- It must be bit watery than chappathi mix.
  • Pour 2 tbsp of oil on top of the dough.
  • Tightly close the bowl and keep aside the dough for minimum 2 hours.
  • :- Or u can use 1/4 tsp of baking soda instead of yeast.
  • After 2 hours, again knead well the dough.
  • Now divide the dough into small small balls.
  • Apply oil or water to the palm of your hands and shape dough into the shape of uzhunnu vada.
  • Press each balls between your palms and make a round shape and make hole in the center using finger.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Deep fry the vadas in hot oil.
  • When it becomes golden brown and crispy, remove from the oil and drain on a kitchen tissue.
  • :- Serve Ulli Vada in Thrissur Style with chutney or tomato sauce..
