Step 1

Clean and wash the chicken pieces nicely. Chop to medium sized pieces.

Step 2

Mix with turmeric powder and the lime juice and keep aside.

Step 3

:- This is to remove the raw smell of chicken.

Step 4

Heat about 2 tbsp oil.

Step 5

Add cloves, cinnamon sticks and cardamoms.

Step 6

:- You don't need to add too much of these coz you don't want the garam masala smell to dominate the dish.

Step 7

When you get a nice fragrance, add the thinly sliced onions, slit green chillies and curry leaves.

Step 8

Once the onions start turning a little brown, add the coarsely ground paste, salt and turmeric.

Step 9

Stir fry until you get a nice smell making sure the mixture does not stick to the bottom of the pan.

Step 10

Add the diced tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes get pulpy.

Step 11

Add the chicken pieces and pour enough water to cover the chicken pieces.

Step 12

Simmer covered until the chicken is cooked.

Step 13

Check for spice and salt and add a little sugar.

Step 14

:- Adding a little sugar enhances the taste of the dish.

Step 15

When the gravy becomes thick, check for salt and spice again. If its too spicy add a little more salt.

Step 16

Add the chopped coriander and remove from fire.

Step 17

:- Serve with plain rice, idli, dosa or chappathis. If serving with rice, pappad would be the best side dish.

Sujee, I am big fan of our recipes but approached this recipe with caution as there was an adverse comment posted earlier. But still kept faith in your culinary talent and tried this recipe and of course, the curry turned out good. You are a good cook and good at proper recipe knowledge transfers.

This RECIPE gave very delicious preparation. it will be much better if u reduce the fennel seeds to 1 tsp and add some masala powder to the raw chicken pieces.Anyway some people may like it, it depends on their taste. THANKS
