Step 1

Wash and soak the dal overnight.

Step 2

Grind coarsely using very little water.

Step 3

Prepare a one string sugar syrup with sugar and water.

Step 4

Soak saffron in hot milk.

Step 5

Crumble mawa into fine granules.

Step 6

Blanch almonds, cool and peel and cut them finely.

Step 7

Heat ghee in a kadai.

Step 8

Add ground dal and fry till golden brown on a low heat and keep stirring .

Step 9

Add the sugar syrup and saffron milk.

Step 10

Mix well and cook till halwa is of dropping consistency.

Step 11

Add mawa and cook till it dissolves.

Step 12

Garnish with crushed cardamoms and sliced almonds.

Step 13

:- Serve hot.
