Step 1

Take 1 cup of red gram in a pressure cooker.

Step 2

Wash it twice with water.

Step 3

Drain the water and add twice the amount of water.

Step 4

Add little salt and turmeric powder.

Step 5

Add mango pieces and pressure cook upto 3 whistles.

Step 6

Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan.

Step 7

Splutter mustard seeds.

Step 8

Add cumin seeds, green gram, black gram and red chillies.

Step 9

Add bhindis, if desired at this stage.

Step 10

:- Do not pour any water.

Step 11

Add salt, chilli powder and dal masala(if available).

Step 12

Cover and cook for 10 mins.

Step 13

Once the pressure has gone, open the cooker.

Step 14

Add the dal to the pan.

Step 15

Mix all contents well.

Step 16

Check taste once to see if salt/spice is okay.

Step 17

Cover and leave it to boil.

Step 18

:- Serve with hot rice and papad.

Step 19

:- You can even squeeze a little lemon juice.


Very simple and yummy.
