  • Bitter gourd / karela : 200 gm
    Turmeric powder : ½ tsp
    Dry coconut grated : ½ no
    Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
    Cumin powder : 1 tsp
    Cloves : 4 nos
    Oil : 3 - 4 tsp
    Salt : as reqd

Cut the bitter gourd into thin round slices.

Apply salt & turmeric powder and keep aside for 15 - 20 minutes.

Step 3

Squeeze the bitter gourd to extract the bitter juices.

Heat oil in a pan and add the bitter gourd.

Step 5

Fry well, stirring occasionally, until the bitter gourd crisp.

Grind the grated dry coconut, cloves, cumin powder and red chilli powder to a fine powder.

Add this powder to the fried bitter gourd.

Stir & cook for 2 minutes.

Serve hot with chappathis or as a side dish with dal & rice.
