Puffs are addictive and you find them very popular and commonly served in tea stalls and local restaurants. With minced mutton cooked with spiced onion mixture, these puff pastry parcels are packed with a ton of flavor. These serve perfect as a snack or light meal. If you love buttery, flaky layers of puff pastry, then settle in for the dish. Basically, puffs are puff pastry parcels packed with your favorite filling. You can either go the traditional way adding the classic favorites like chicken, egg, vegetables or meat, or customize the filling to meet your taste.

Ingredients

  • Cook the mutton mince in cooker with salt and turmeric along with as little water as possible.
  • Fry the onions in oil until they are golden brown.
  • Add the ginger-garlic paste, chillies and tomato and stir fry for 1 min.
  • Add salt, coriander and chilli powders and stir for half a min and lower the heat.
  • Let it cook, until oil separates from the mixture.
  • Add the cooked meat and mix well.
  • Let the water evaporate.
  • When almost dry, add coconut milk and stir continuously, till the mixture is brown and dry.
  • Stir in the masala podi/garam masala and keep aside to cool.
  • While the meat is cooking, thaw the pastry sheets.
  • Cut into 6 parts.
  • Flatten each piece a little more and put 1 spoon of meat mixture into it and fold into half into a triangle.
  • Press sides to seal.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degree Fahrenheit.
  • Repeat with all pieces and arrange them on a greased baking sheet.
  • Mix 1 tsp of water with the egg and beat until well- mixed.
  • Brush this on the puffs and bake until golden brown(around 5 - 15 mins).
  • :- Substitute meat with Cauliflower and Potato or Chicken or egg. Just dont add coconut milk in the veggie puffs. Cooking times will vary. In case of eggs, use hard boiled eggs cut into half.
