Step 1

Heat oil in a pan.

Step 2

Add cumin seeds, green chilies and garlic and sautT.

Step 3

Add the onions and saute until brown.

Step 4

Add tomatoes and let it cook in simmering heat.

Step 5

Add the tamarind extract. Let it cook for 5 minutes.

Step 6

Add the garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and allow them to blend with the mixture.

Step 7

Add the shrimps and salt.

Step 8

Close the lid and cook for 15 mins.

Step 9

Once it is cooked, turn off the heat.

Step 10

Garnish with cilantro leaves.

Step 11

:- Serve hot with rice.


It turned out good, but didnt have the Kerala feel to it. Easy recipe but the result was not exceptional either...consider it a daily not too spicy dish.

I tried this recipe with some imperovisations.As we`re fans of hot-spicy-gravy food, i added 1.5tsp red chilli powder and more tamarind as i use it for fishcurry and little water for enough gravy.It was excellent.Thanks very much for the recipe.My husband just loved it. He was all praises even after it was finished.Thanks again.
