Step 1

Clean the bittergourd and take out the rough skin and edges from it.

Step 2

Make a slit along the length and take out the seeds and clean the insides.

Step 3

Cut the bittergourd as round thin circles (not very thin).

Step 4

Add all the ingredients specified other than the bittergourd to water to make a thick paste.

Step 5

Marinate the bittergourd with this paste and leave for an hour atleast or more.

Step 6

Take a microwavable plate (I usually use a pyrex pie pan) and spray/rub some oil on the pan.

Step 7

Layer the bittergourd pieces on the plate and microwave for 20 - 30 minutes or more depending on how crispy you want it.

Step 8

:- Remember to keep checking the pieces every 10 min or so to make sure all pieces are cooked evenly.

Step 9

:- Your pavakya fry is ready with very very less oil. !!!!


My karela became hard and dry ? I cooked in micro mode for 15 min .pls advice.even my baked potatoes also shrink and becomes hard :(
