Step 1

Wash and soak rice in water for atleast 4 hours.

Step 2

Drain water and grind rice with green chillies adding required water.

Step 3

Grind pottu kadalai and add the grinded powder to the dough.

Step 4

Add salt, cumin seeds or Ellu and butter to the dough and mix well.

Step 5

Heat oil in a pan.

Step 6

Insert dough in murukkacchi and role it spirally to any desired shape on a plastic paper or banana leaf coated with oil.

Step 7

Take the murukku from the paper and deep fry in the oil.

Step 8

Turn it occasionally so that both side gets cooked well.

Step 9

When the sound goes down, take the crispy murukku from oil.
