Red gram
Thuvaraparippu

Red chillies
tear into halves
Curry leaves
A few
Asafoetida
A pinch, Kaayam
Oil
As reqd
Ghee
As reqd
Mustard seeds
Salt
As reqd

Water
Instructions
Heat
oil
in a pan.
Add asafoetida and splutter
mustard seeds
.
Add
red chillies
and
curry leaves
and saute.
Place the washed rice and daal followed by
water
in a pressure cooker.
Add
salt
and the seasoning into the cooker and mix well.
Keep the above mixed rice in the cooker for 4 whistles.
After 4 whistles, take the pongal out.
Pour
ghee
on top.
:- Serve hot with the sambaar.
