1 cup Rice1/4 cup Red gram (Thuvaraparippu)4 - Red chillies (tear into halves)Curry leaves (A few)Asafoetida (A pinch, Kaayam)Oil (As reqd)Ghee (As reqd)Mustard seedsSalt (As reqd)4 cups Water Heat oil in a pan.Add asafoetida and splutter mustard seeds.Add red chillies and curry leaves and saute.Place the washed rice and daal followed by water in a pressure cooker.Add salt and the seasoning into the cooker and mix well.Keep the above mixed rice in the cooker for 4 whistles.After 4 whistles, take the pongal out.Pour ghee on top.:- Serve hot with the sambaar.
