Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add asafoetida and splutter mustard seeds.
  3. Add red chillies and curry leaves and saute.
  4. Place the washed rice and daal followed by water in a pressure cooker.
  5. Add salt and the seasoning into the cooker and mix well.
  6. Keep the above mixed rice in the cooker for 4 whistles.
  7. After 4 whistles, take the pongal out.
  8. Pour ghee on top.
  9. :- Serve hot with the sambaar.
