MEDICINAL VALUE :
Canafistula, the woody seed pods are used as a highly effective moderate laxative. In herbal medicine, canafistula is also used as remedy for tumors of the abdomen, glands, liver, stomach, and throat. Also used for burns, cancer, constipation, convulsions, delirium etc.

CULINERY AND OTHER VALUES :
The fruit pulp of some is eaten as a refreshing treat. Cassia leaves are used to brew herbal teas.
