Peel them off and cut them into small pieces. Put chillies, garlic, ginger and some coriander into the mixer and grind them to a fine paste.Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves. Add finely chopped chillies and saute.Add turmeric powder.Add potatoes and salt. Stir well and cook for two minutes. Add the ground paste and stir well.Make small round balls of the above mixture and keep them aside.For making the Batter: 1)Mix together gram flour or besan and wheat flour. Add all the powders together and make a smooth batter. For making aloo vada: 1)Dip the potato balls into the batter and fry them till they become golden brown in colour.:- Serve hot with fried green chillies or coconut chutney. North Indian
