Aval Ada

Aval ada is a traditional snack in malabar region.It is made pf flattened rice,coconut,jaggery which is layered inside the rice paste in banana leaf and steamed in a steamer and deep fry in hot oil for a different taste.we can serve it as a evening snack

  • Melt jaggery in half cup of water.
  • Add grated coconut into the melted jaggery and cook for few seconds.
  • Add aval and mix well.remove from the flame and keep it aside.
  • Now the filling is ready.
  • Mix rice flour with salt and enough water.knead into a dough.place lemon sized dough in the center of the banana leaf,glatten it with finger and spread the filling on it.fold the leaf in half and steam cook it for 20-25 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the cooked adas until light brown in colour and serve it with a cup of hot tea.
