Easy evening snack with Aval or Rice flakes

Rice flakes
Aval

Grated
coconut

nos
Green chillies
slit into halves
1"

Ginger
chopped
1/2
tsp
Garlic
chopped
1
sprig
Curry leaves
1/2
tsp
Chilly powder
1/4
tsp
Turmeric powder
Salt
As reqd
1/4
cup
Water
1/ 2
tsp
Mustard seeds
Black gram
(Uzhunnuparippu)
or
1/2
tsp
Bengal gram
Kadalaparippu
Mixed vegetables of choice:-
1
cup
Potato
, Peas, Carrots, Beans
boiled
1
no
Onion
chopped
Oil
As reqd
Instructions
Sprinkle the rice flakes with
water
to make it soft and keep aside.
Heat
oil
in a kadai or a pan.
Splutter
mustard seeds
.
Add
black gram
and allow it to turn brown.
Add chillies,
garlic
,
ginger
, onions and
curry leaves
.
Saute, till onions turn light brown.
Add the boiled veg, chilly powder,
turmeric powder
and
salt
.
Saute for 2 mins.
Add
water
.
Add the rice flakes and mix well.
:- The
water
will get absorbed.
Garnish with grated
coconut
.
:- Serve hot with
tomato
sauce or chutney.
:- Can add a pinch of
coriander powder
and
garam masala
for taste.
