Instructions
  1. Cut bittergourd into small pieces and leave it in salt water for an hour or so.
  2. Drain the water and squeeze out the excess water from the bitter gourd and keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan.
  4. Fry onions, green chilly, ginger and garlic.
  5. When onion becomes brown, add chilly powder and asafoetida.
  6. Add the bittergourd pieces and vinegar and mix well.
  7. Add salt as required.
  8. Cook till bittergourd is cooked.
  9. Splutter mustard seeds in another pan and add this to the above bitter gourd mixture.
  10. Remove from flame.
