Chalna

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Chicken/Mutton bones
  • 1/2 cup Red gram Thuvaraparippu
  • 1/2 cup Bengal gram Kadalaparippu
  • 1/4 cup Onions chopped
  • 1/2 cup Tomato big chunks
  • Ginger made fresh
  • 1 no Bay leaf Vazhana/Karuga ela
  • 1" stick Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 1 - Cloves Grambu
  • 1/2 cup Onions chopped
  • 1/4 cup Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 small Brinjal Vazhuthananga
  • 4 nos Raw mango big chunks
  • Curry leaves Few
  • 1 tbsp Chilly powder
  • 2 tbsp Coriander powder
  • Coriander leaves For garnishing
  • 1 - Oil

Instructions
 

  • Measure equal amount of both dals and pressure cook unto four whistles along with mutton or chicken bones, 1/4 cup onions, ginger-garlic paste, half cup tomato (sliced into big chunks) and bay leaf. Cook and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Saute cinnamon, clove and curry leaves.
  • Add chopped half cup onions and tomatoes and saute well.
  • When it is done, add chilly powder and coriander powder.
  • Add brinjal and cook, until it becomes tender.
  • Stir in mango chunks. Add the previously cooked dal and mutton mixture. Simmer for 10 mins.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves. :- Serve Clalna dish hot with Biriyani.
