Cheera Aviyal is a delicious innovative dish prepared from red spinach. Red Spinach, termed as Red Amaranth leaves is actually Chuvanna Cheera in Malayalam. Cheera Aviyal is actually a duplicate dish of Malayalee favorite 'Avial'. The only difference is that instead of a rich combo of nutritious veggies, here the leaves and stems of Chuvanna Cheera is used in combination with tangy flavored mango pieces and coconut. Alternatively you can also use Green Amaranth leaves as well for the great dish. Spinach is a rich and nutritious vegetable with lots of minerals, vitamins and other nutrients required for human body.   • For preparing the delicious and innovative dish, first wash cheera and cut into small pieces.
  • Grind together coconut, chilly powder and small onions into a thick paste.
  • Add this with a little water to the chopped cheera.
  • Cook on a low flame.
  • When it is half cooked, add mango pieces.
  • When it is done, add salt and oil.
  • Add a few curry leaves into it.
  • :- Serve with rice.
  • :- You can also use tamarind(puli) instead of mango.
