Chembu Mezhukkupuratti is also called as taro root in english and in tamil in cheppankizhangu . its family of Colocasia . It is a traditional kerala style curry with tasty. As it is similar to potato in taste , kids love it Rich in Fiber and Other Important Nutrients. May Help Control Blood Sugar. May Reduce Your Risk of Heart Disease. May Offer Anticancer Properties. .Taro root vegetable or Arbi as we better know it, originates from Malaysia and India, where it grows wild in wet or dry places . The taro leaves are heart shaped with white roots that are nutty in flavor. It can cause skin irritation when peeling. so when you start before that soak few mins rice water to avoid that itching. we adding onion and green chilli to increase the taste and with simple tempering . Now we can see detail in this recipe of Chembu mezhukkupuratti or Colocasia mezhukkupuratti .

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Chembu
  • 2 chopped Onion
  • 4 Green chilly
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 6 Curry leaf
  • 1 tsp Salt

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a kadai add mustard .When mustard splutters add urad dal and green chilly .
  • Add onions and curry leaves to this and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add chopped chembu 1/2 cup water and salt to this .
  • Close the lid of the pan and cook for 10 minutes on a low flame..
  • Uncover the pan and stir until water dry up
  • Now chembu mezhukkupuratti is ready to serve.
