Chena-Kaya Curry is a strictly pure vegetarian curry which is served to the guest with rice and other delicious side dishes. This is traditional, authentic Kerala side dish. Normally, it is prepared during Onam. Chena is known as elephant foot yam which full of antioxidants and have lot many health benefits.This is a tasty and also a healthy side dish.

  • Cut all the veggies and keep it ready.
  • Cook chena,raw banana,tomato,onion,green chilly,curry leaves with turmeric powder,salt and water as required for 20 minutes.
  • Add ground coconut into the curry.
  • Mix well,remove from the flame when it starts boil.
  • Heat oil and splutter mustard seed,add shallots and saute until golden brown in colour.mix it with the curry.
  • Serve the chena-Kaya Curry with rice.
