  • Grind the list of ingredients under marination table and keep aside.
  • Apply on the fish and marinate for 1 hour or minimum 1/2 hour.
  • Now fry the marinated fishes in hot oil to a golden brown color and keep aside.
  • In a pan add oil and fry onions. Keep it aside.
  • In a pan add the oil(fish fried oil) and temper cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, bay leaf and add little fried onion.
  • Now add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomato, green chili and saute well.
  • Soak saffron with water or milk.
  • Cook 3/4th of rice with required salt and keep aside.
  • Now add mint and coriander leaves to the tomato mixture. Saute and add all powders: turmeric powder, red chilli powder and biriyani masala. Mix well.
  • Now add curd and cook the thick gravy.
  • Then add fried fish and keep on low flame.
  • Now add cooked rice and layer with fried onions.
  • Now sprinkle mint and coriander leaves and saffron. Close with a lid and cook for 5 -10 mins on low flame and turn off.
  • Now its ready to serve Chettinad Fish Fry Biriyani.
