  • Chicken(cut into 12 pieces) - 800 gm
  • Mustard oil - 10 tbsp
  • Onion(chopped finely or grated, large) - 2 nos
  • Gnger(garlic paste - 2 tbsp) -
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - 2 tsp
  • Sugar - 2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder(Kashmiri) - 2 tsp
  • Curd(well beaten) - 1 cup
  • Lemon juice - 4 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves (for garnishing) -

Instructions
  1. Heat mustard oil, till it smokes. Remove from fire and allow it to cool.
  2. Heat oil again.
  3. Add all the spices and fry for 1/2 a minute, till the fenugreek seeds turn golden brown.
  4. Add onions and fry, till they turn golden brown.
  5. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 1 - 2 mins.
  6. Add chicken, salt, turmeric powder, sugar and red chilly powder and fry for 3 - 4 mins on a high flame.
  7. Add curd and keep stirring, till it boils.
  8. Stir for another 2 mins.
  9. Lower the flaame, cover and cook for 12 - 15 mins or till chicken is tender.
  10. Add lemon juice.
  11. Allow 1 - 2 boils.
  12. Add 1/4 cup of water, if desired and give another 2 - 3 boils.
  13. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  14. :- Serve hot.
  15. :- Paneer or Dum aloo made in this way is also very delicious.
