Chicken And Oats Soup

Another recipe for Ifthar! I make this chicken and Oats Soup mostly during Ramadan fasting .It is very healthy and highly nutritious soup.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 small Onion finely chopped
  • 250 gm Chicken cut into small pieces , Boneless
  • 4 Green chilli optional
  • 7 pods Garlic optional
  • 3 tbsp Tomato puree
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1/2 cup Oats
  • 1/ Chicken cube

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a pot, add onion, garlic, green chillies and saute it until the onion become golden brown .
  • Add chicken pieces, tomato puree and cook it for 5 - 10 minutes on medium flame.
  • Add water, salt Cover and cook on low flame until the chicken becomes tender
  • Then add oats, stirring continously. Cook this for about 10 minutes, keep stirring to avoid it from sticking. Add more water and salt if required.
  • Finally, add chicken cube, cumin, pepper powder and cook for another 5 minutes so the spices can blend in.
  • Chicken and Oats Soup is ready. Squeeze half lemon juice before serving. Serve with bread sticks or garlic bread.

Notes

Chicken cube - 1 / 2 of one cube
Oil - 2 tbsp
Water - 5 cups
Salt to taste
