Instructions
  1. Soak the dal in water for half an hour
  2. Cook the dal with water, turmeric powder and salt
  3. Mash the cooked daal partially
  4. Chop the onions and tomatoes.
  5. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and after it splutters add the jeera. Add chopped garlic and fry.
  6. Add onions and curry leaves to this
  7. Add chilly powder to this and fry
  8. Add sliced tomatoes and green chillies
  9. Add the cooked dal and enough water as required
  10. Allow this to boil and daal curry is ready
  11. Serve with boiled rice or rotis
Recipe Notes

Instead of curry leaves you can use coriander leaves too.
You can add a tablespoon of sambar powder along with red chilly powder for variation too.
