Instructions
  1. Pressure cook the dal till it is soft.
  2. Mash and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a cooking bowl.
  4. Splutter mustard seeds and jeera.
  5. Add garlic and chillies and saute till garlic changes color.
  6. Add turmeric powder and saute.
  7. Add dal followed by water and salt.
  8. :- Adjust water such that the dal looks watery. It should not have a thick appearance.
  9. Allow the mixture to boil for a few minutes or till you get the aroma of garlic.
  10. Shut off the flame and add plenty of coriander leaves and keep the bowl closed.
  11. :- This is an onion free recipe. Addition of onion will change the authentic taste. This type of dal preparation is called `Varan` in Marathi.
