Ingredients
  

  • Dal (equal quantites of toovar dal, masoor dal and yellow moon dal) : 1 cup
  • Mustard seeds : ½ tsp
  • Whole jeera : ½ tsp
  • Cinnamon : 1 small pc
  • Cloves : 2 nos
  • Tomatoes finely chopped : 2 medium size
  • Onions finely chopped : 2 medium size
  • 3 nos Green chilies finely chopped : 2
  • Doodhi cubed : 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Coriander Cumin powder : ½ tsp
  • Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder : ½ tsp
  • Salt : to taste

Instructions
 

  • Soak the dal in hot water for 15- 20 minutes and boil in a pressure cooker and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add the rye, jeera, cloves, cinnamon stick and curry patta.3) Add finely chopped onions and green chillies and fry till golden brown.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes, dry masala powders and salt and cook covered on a low flame till the oil separates from the masala.
  • You can add a little water if the masala sticks to the bottom of the pan.6) When the masala is cooked add the cubed doodhi / white pumpkin.
  • Cover the pan and cook for 15 minutes till the doodhi is cooked.8) Add the boiled dal and cook for another 5 minutes till the dal is well blended.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and a squeeze of lemon juice.
