  • Spinach(chopped) - 1 big
  • Onion(big) - 1 no
  • finely chopped -
  • Dry red chillies(long) - 2 -
  • Garlic pods(slit long) - 5 -
  • Grated Coconut - 1 cup
  • Salt(As reqd) -
  • Mustard seeds(for seasoning) -
  • Black gram(Uzhunnuparipppu) -
  • or Green gram(A little for seasoning, Cheruparippu) -
  • Oil - 2 tbsp

Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  2. Splutter mustard seeds.
  3. Add black gram or moong dal in it.
  4. When it starts turning brown, add the garlic and the red chillies.
  5. Let the garlic turn a little brown.
  6. Add the spinach. Mix it a little.
  7. Add salt & close it and let it cook for 5 mins.
  8. When the spinach is almost done, add the grated coconut.
  9. Mix well and let it cook for 2 - 3 mins.
  10. :- Serve with hot rice and pappad.
  11. :- This recipe was invented when there was absolutely nothing at home except for spinach & onions and turned out to be extremely tasty. Hope you`l like it 🙂
