2 cups Rice1/4 cup Red gram (Thuvaraparippu)3 spoon Tamarind paste1 cup Grated coconut8 nos Red chillies (Kollamulaku)4 nos Garlic pods1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)1 no Onion (chopped)4 nos Small onions (for grinding, Kunjulli)1 tsp Turmeric powder7 nos Curry leaves1 tsp Mustard seeds1 tsp Black gram (Uzhunnuparippu)1 tsp Asafoetida powder (Kaayam)Salt (As reqd) Grind coconut, red chillies, garlic, jeera and small onion.Put some oil in the pressure cooker(because the rice won`t stick at the bottom).Pour the diluted tamarind, toor dal, ground coconut, salt, turmeric powder and asfoetida.Allow the water to boil for 5 mins.Put the rice and close the lid.Pressure cook it for 2 whistles.Heat oil in the pan.Splutter mustard and urad dal.Add onion and curry leaves and saute till onion turns brown.:- If you need more spicy, you can add red chillies & green chillies.Pour the seasoning of mustard and onion in the pressure cooker and stir.:- Serve hot with papad and raitha.
