Elephant Yam Fry / Varuval

Elephant Foot Yams can be used to prepare a variety of dishes like yam roast, masiyal, kootu, chutney, kababs, cutlets etc. senaikizhangu varuval is the best side dish for the rice. This is a simple yam stir fry with flavors coming from the spices, onions, garlic and coconut.

Instructions
  1. peel the yam and cut into small pieces
  2. half boil the yam in the pan by adding some water
  3. filter the boiled yam from water
  4. in a mixie jar add onion, red chilli, coconut, garlic, salt, turmeric powder, fennel seed and make a paste
  5. make a fine paste
  6. in a pan add coconut paste and fry it
  7. add half boiled yam and mix well
  8. add required oil , mix well and fry it in medium flame
  9. fry the until it get cooked and turn into golden brown
  10. elephant yam varuval is ready to serve
