Instructions
Pressure cook red gram,
garlic
, 1
onion
, 1
tomato
, chiily powder,
turmeric powder
& asafoetida together with required
water
. After it is cooked, cool it & smash it. Keep it aside.
Heat little
oil
in a kadai and fry ingredients: dry
red chillies
,
coriander seeds
,
bengal gram
, fenugreek,
cumin seeds
, cinnamon and grated
coconut
. Cool it and grind it with
tamarind
(if needed add
water
while grinding).
Splutter
mustard seeds
and then add 1
onion
(chopped) and 1
tomato
(chopped). Cook till raw smell goes.
Now mix cooked dhal with
garlic
and required
salt
. Add
water
according to thickness you prefer. Let it boil for 5 to 7 minutes.
Add
jaggery
to it and let it cook for 1 min..
Hot sambar is ready. Serve with idly, dosa, vadi etc.
