Idiyan chakka Thoran is a delicious traditional styled dish, very popular in Kerala Cuisine. Kerala is a land where jackfruits grow in plenty. Idiyan chakka Thoran is prepared from tender jackfruit. Jackfruits are seasonal available largely from November to June especially after heavy rains. Many were ignorant of these type of dishes, but now these fruits are the rage of the season. Studies in recent years have proved the high nutrition index of jackfruits. Tender jackfruits are soft on the inside and cooking with right proportions of coconut flavored mixture you can expect something great. Tender Jackfruit Thoran is a very tasty dish that goes well with roti, chappatis and even as a side dish with rice. Cut the Idiyan chakka (Tender Jackfruit) into pieces and peel them.
Again cut the peeled Idiyanchakka into small pieces.
Change the Idiyanchakka pieces into a cooking vessel and add required quantity of water along with half-a teaspoon Turmeric Powder and cook it for about 20 – 30 minutes in medium flame.
When the Idiyanchakka pieces are cooked well, remove the water from it using a filter and allow to cool it for about 10 minutes.
Crush the pieces as shown in the below picture.
Heat Oil in a frying pan (Kadaai) and add the Blackgram dhal into the oil.
