Instant Oats Wheat Dosa

A

Instant Oats Wheat Dosa is an excellent and apt alternative to the regular dosa dishes. The best thing about the dish is that it takes very little time for preparation of batter. Traditional rice dosas require fermentation and that consumes much time. Fermentation requires 7-8 hours and that’s why I termed this an ‘instant’ dosa. The next thing I like about Instant Oats Wheat Dosa is that wheat flour and oats is used instead of rice. These rolled out crepes are tasty and very wholesome too accompanied with any spicy gravy. These dosas make for a great and healthy breakfast or a light and comfortable dinner. While preparing the batter, make it smooth and runny. Make sure it does not become too watery. The batter is poured on a hot tawa and spread out perfectly so that it cooks up into a thin, lacey and crisp crepe. Regarding batter preparation, these dosas are quite similar to wheat dosa, rawa dosa, neer dosa, the list goes on.

Instant Oats Wheat Dosa are quite tasty and addictive too but it takes little more time to cook compared to regular rice dosas. Cook in slow to medium heat and make sure that both sides are cooked well. My kids love the Instant Oats Wheat Dosa combination and I am happy they are relishing something great. I can prepare it fast on school days and my kids consume it with honey. This is a complete and filling meal that provides required energy for my kids and family. Oats are loaded with Vitamin E, zinc and B complex. Oats help in healthy functioning of brain too. Wheat is a good source of vital nutrients required for body. Instructions

  • Dry roast the oats for 5 minutes and let it cool.
  • Take a blender, add roasted oats, wheat flour and salt as required.
  • Pour water as required and prepare a smooth batter without lumps.
  • Convert it into a bowl and add more water if required to get a dosa like batter.
  • Heat dosa pan until it's ready in medium flame. When ready, pour 1 ladle full of batter in the dosa pan and spread it out. Spray some ghee/oil on top and allow it to cook in medium flame for at least 5 min – 10 min or till they turn golden brown on one side. Flip over the other side and cook. These dosas are very soft and break apart if turned before it’s cooked well on the first side. So care should be taken to cook properly till they turn golden brown on the first side before turning over.
  • Serve it along with any curry or gravy dish.
