Kappa Curry is a traditional styled dish in Kerala Cuisine prepared from mashed tapioca and some spices. There are many other versions available for preparing this delicious Poola Curry. But the version of Tapioca Curry I am sharing today is simple to prepare, so now let’s go through the recipe. The dish is very different from the usual tapioca recipes prepared in Kerala homes. Since I have my base in Kerala, I am really fortunate to live in a place where fresh tapioca is always available round the clock. Kappa Puzhukku is the commonly available dish in Kerala. But since Kappa Curry has made an entrance to my home, it has always been a regular and common favorite in my residence. This is not mushy like the Puzhukku form that always needs a side dish. Puzhukku dishes do not have a flavor on its own. But Poola Curry is very flavorful and spiced and doesn’t need a side dish.
Tapioca is starchy and rich in carbohydrates. For those with diabetics this is not apt due to its high starch content. But an occasional binge will not do any harm. Tapioca Curry is an easy and quick dish that you can enjoy for weekend sessions when you family is around and you want to enjoy something light on your tummy. Even working mothers and busy housewives will find the dish quite useful in their busy schedules. It is delicious and tasty on its own and you can also relish it with a cup of hot tea as a quick snack. You can also served Kappa Curry with a non vegetarian side dish if you feel so. My folks undoubtedly love this dish with its gravy form. Even my kids love Poola Curry and they keep reminding me for the dish. You can explore a well detailed Kappa Curry here.
