Kerala Dry Prawns Fry (Unakka Chemmeen)
Dry
prawns
(unakka chemmeen) are dry fried and cooked with
onion
,
garlic
,
tamarind
and other ingredients

prawns
remove head and tail

Onion
finely sliced

tsp
Red chilly powder
Turmeric powder
A pinch
½
tsp
Black
pepper powder
½
tsp
Vinegar
2
sprigs
Curry leaves
50
g
Oil
Salt
As reqd
Instructions
Wash and keep the dry
prawns
in
water
for 5 minutes and squeeze out the
water
. Spread it in a flat surface.
Mix together the chilly powder,
turmeric powder
,
pepper powder
, vinegar and
salt
. Add the
prawns
and combine well.
Heat
oil
in a pan and fry the
onion
and
curry leaves
till golden brown. Keep aside.
Fry the marinated
prawns
in the same
oil
till crispy. Drain and garnish with fried
onion
and
curry leaves
.
